Staying in Slovakia : Temporary Residency for the purpose of Study
Concerning the documents that you will need :
- Valid passport
- Original or certified copy of School acceptance or attendance for studies.
It will be in Slovak : Potvrdenie o štúdium. It must be signed by the Dean of the Faculty.
About the confirmation of your studies, the Faculty should be able to give you the necessary document.
- Extract from the criminal record from the country of which the applicant is a national, and from countries in which the applicant has resided for more than 90 days during six consecutive months in the last three years. It does not apply if it was an EU country.
- Filled in Application Form
Important :
• airline tickets and boarding passes,
• train, bus, or other transportation tickets (including tickets for travel to and from airports abroad if you traveled to Slovakia by air via another country),
• confirmation of your first accommodation in the Slovak Republic (e.g., confirmation from the accommodation provider, accommodation contract, hotel reservation),
• other documents proving the date and time of arrival (e.g., payment confirmations, e-mail or SMS transport confirmations).
To be Paid at the Foreign Police : Administrative fee for issuing the residence document and its delivery within the Slovak Republic: 10 EUR (within 30 days) or 39 EUR (within 2 working days). I recommend paying the express delivery.

Staying in Slovakia : Are you a citizen of an EU country?
Your student journey does not require a Police Clearance Certificate, just the document confirming the right of residence (confirmation of study). You need to register your residence at the Foreign Police, your stay within 90 days.
The documents you will need:
- Confirmation from university
- Affidavit stating that you have sufficient financial means to cover your stay (can be signed at the Foreign Police)
Make sure to visit your Faculty and the Welcome Centre once you arrive to Slovakia for further guidance on how to book an appointment to hand in your documents at the Foreign Police.
If you overstay: if you leave the Slovak territory and cross the border once your 90 days period will be renewed.
